What’s up with the mighty long name in the footer? Do you have a farm?
I used to. I named this practice after the farm I had because the farm, and now this practice, operate on the same principle. Regeneration..
Regeneration is HUGE when it comes to creating a farm — or a human life —
that is not in constant tug-of-war with itself.
In regenerative farming the areas of focus are the soil, the water, the air, and everything else that is the ecosystem of the farm.
The focus isn’t on the end product, the focus is on overall health. It’s on providing and supporting the elements that, when healthy and in good keeping with nature, will automatically and repeatedly produce a glorious bounty.
With greater and greater ease.
Regenerative mental health practices do the same for us humans.
Regenerative approaches restore our health in such a way that the inherent, full abilities of our Spiritual-Mental-Emotional-Physical selves can rev back up and work as they are meant to. Our system —our self— can do what it instinctively knows how to do, which is generate life that’s in good keeping with nature. Life that can thrive.
What Therapeutic Approaches Do That?
Fortunately these days, there are a few. I usually use a combination of Motivational Interviewing, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Expressive Arts, and integrative mental health practices, including nature-based ones. I also use a type of EMDR that addresses all manner of traumatic experiences, including attachment breaches (Somatic and Attachment Focused EMDR). Not only does that combo support health that builds on itself, folks tend to respond quickly and what a relief that is. It’s great when our systems begin to relax and trust that life can be okay.
